Visiting Angels Frederick is a local representation of a nationwide franchise. We provide in-home, non-medical companion care to seniors across Frederick County, enabling them to remain comfortable and independent in their own homes.

  • Understand, perform, and adhere to information and precautions contained in clients' Home Plan of Care.
  • Understand and adhere to company policies. Perform all specified company standard procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain records of clients' progress and services performed. Report changes in clients' conditions to supervisor.
  • Maintain absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to clients and their families.
  • Follow supervisor instruction and demonstrate independence, competence, and discretion.
  • Report any and all employee or client incidents to supervisor immediately.
  • Conduct safety precautions including wiping wet floors and spills and removing potential hazards immediately. Report safety hazards such as frayed electrical cords, unsecured handrails, malfunctioning smoke or carbon monoxide detectors/alarms, defective equipment and/or environmental hazards to supervisor same day as observation.
  • Promptly respond and attend to client requests. Communicate effectively with all coworkers and Visiting Angels staff.
  • Exercise good judgment in accepting assignments. Work shifts as assigned consistently and reliably.
  • Engage in respectful social interaction with clients, including friendly conversation and empathetic support.
  • Demonstrate client respect, including of their privacy and property.
  • Exhibit positive attitude and behavior.
  • Provide companionship and socialization, including hospital or medical facility visits.
  • Perform no-contact care on an as-needed basis, such as:
    • Assist clients with personal communication skills.
    • Provide standby support to clients in bathing and dressing.
    • Offer reminders to clients to take medications in a timely and consistent manner.
    • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as washing dishes, cleaning counters and surfaces, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, changing bed linens, collecting and removing trash and recyclables, and laundry services.
    • Assist clients with laundry and bed linens.
    • Plan, cook, and serve meals, adhering to any dietary restrictions; clean workspace afterwards.
    • Assist with transportation needs in accordance with clients' Home Plan of Care.
    • Perform basic errands on behalf of client.
    • Provide additional services as needed, including pet care, gardening, non-financial paperwork assistance, and packing help.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Must be 18 years of age or older as of hire date.
  • Eligibility to legally work in the United States.
  • Possession of unexpired CPR certification.
  • Ability to possess and maintain negative results in a Tuberculosis test.
  • Possession of one (1) year's caregiving experience; caregiving experience with seniors preferred.
  • Possession of an associate's degree in Nursing or a related field or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Possession of unexpired CNA or GNA certifications preferred.
  • Experience with Generations healthcare scheduling system preferred.
  • Flexibility to work at least one weekend shift at least twice per month.
  • Flexibility to travel to, and work at, varying locations across Frederick County.
  • Consistent access to reliable transportation. If transportation includes operation of a motor vehicle, documentation indicating possession of a valid driver's license and unexpired automobile insurance must be provided and maintained.
  • Ability to travel in adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to receive calls and texts remotely.
  • Ability to variably walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb stairs, twist, reach, lift, and move throughout working hours.
  • Ability to lift and maintain control of 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Ability to see and hear or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately to fully meet position requirements.
  • Ability to maintain verbal and written communication with coworkers, management, clients, vendors, and other business associates within and outside of the company.
  • Ability to receive feedback gracefully.
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful or emergency situations.
